BUAFC 100 Club
What is the 100 Club?
The 100 Club is a virtual group made up of 'friends of Birkenhead United' who are willing to make a small financial contribution towards key club projects in exchange for the chance to win prizes in a monthly draw.
How does the 100 Club work?
100 Club members set up a direct credit to pay $10 per month into a designated account or, pay a lump sum of $120 (12 tickets) for the year. Members may purchase as many tickets as they wish to have more chances of winning.
A draw is held on the last Friday of each month in the BUAFC clubroom, with a monthly prize pool totalling 50% of all 100 Club membership fees for that month. Prizes are awarded for 1st (50%), 2nd (30%) and 3rd (20%) and posted on both the clubroom notice board and social media. The remaining 50% of 100 Club membership fees are retained for key BUAFC projects, that may otherwise be difficult to find funding for.
Why this approach?
The BUAFC 100 Club was launched in 2013 to improve the clubs financial health, ensuring its facilities and services can be enjoyed by generations of New Zealanders for many years to come. The 100 Club is one component of a wider Funding Plan (overseen by the Club Management Committee) that brings together income from capex and opex grants, sponsorship, events and programmes, kitchen and bar revenue, facility hire and membership fees.
What projects has the 100 Club funded?
Projects completed by the 100 Club include but are not limited to:
-
Framing of NZ representative shirts awarded to current Birkenhead players
-
Large screen tv and trophy display shelf
-
Tournament fee contributions
How are 100 Club projects selected?
Projects can be nominated by any member of BUAFC or the 100 Club by raising it with any member of the management committee.
If the committee endorse the project it will be put forward to 100 Club trustees for review. Trustees will then determine if it is an appropriate purpose (based on agreed criteria) and thereafter allocate a funding contribution based on available funds and other projects already under review.
Who are the current 100 Club trustees?
Sian Chad, Stuart Weir & Ajmol Ali
